10 Disney Movies Coming Out In 2019

A new year means new movies coming our way, and some of the most-anticipated films are from Disney. Over the years, the magical world of Walt Disney has brought fans animated classics, heart-warming stories — even superhero films since Marvel and Star Wars are now apart of this family.
That being said, we all need to be very prepared because this year there are 10 amazing movies coming out through Disney. Those who are into cartoons full of songs and princesses will be pleased, and those who enjoy a bit more excitement will also be thrilled with this lineup.
Keep reading to find out which dates to mark on the calendar, and get ready for at least 10 trips to the theater in 2019!

10CAPTAIN MARVEL

On Friday, March 8, fans can see Brie Larson starring as Carol Danvers, who is better known as Captain Marvel. Most superhero fans make sure to catch every action flick that is released, but this one is even more special than the usual action flick. It happens to be the first solo film from the studio to be led by a woman! With her superhuman strength, ability to fly, and resistance to most toxins and poisons, she is one hero we will definitely be rushing to see come March. Plus, her suit with its gold accents is not too shabby either.

9DUMBO

On Friday, March 29, a live-action remake of Dumbo will be released. This animated classic was first released in 1941, telling the story of an elephant who was made fun of due to his large ears.
Tim Burton will be telling this updated story of Dumbo with his friends discovering dark lies at a circus. Actress Eva Green and actors Colin Farrell and Michael Keaton will be featured in this flick, which is bound to have some twisted and whimsical scenes due to Burton’s directing. (He has previously created works like Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before ChristmasFrankenweenie, and Alice in Wonderland.)

8PENGUINS

In April, Disney will introduce its eighth theatrical release from Disneynature. Entitled Penguins, it follows a penguin named Steve who searches for a partner to start a family in the Antarctic with. This documentary-style film will be released just in time for Earth Day, which is fitting, like many of Disneynature’s films are. These nature-themed works give such a special and sweet view into the life of animals. Those who enjoyed their March of the Penguins should definitely be excited for this one. And just look how cute this little guy is!

7AVENGERS: ENDGAME

On Friday, April 26, fans will finally find out what happened after Thanos’ life-altering Snap in Avengers: Infinity War. Tony Stark is stuck in space with no food or water, the Avengers are planning an epic showdown with Thanos, and the rumor that Hugh Jackman will return one last time as Wolverine (a rumor that started since a Google search result listed him in the film’s credits)... There is a lot to prepare for when it comes to this movie, which will be the fourth in the Avengers series. We just hope we see all those characters that drifted away come back!

6ALADDIN

On Friday, May 24, another live-action remake will come out in theaters: Aladdin. Everyone knows this tale of a “street rat” who falls in love with a princess. There is a magic carpet, the classic bad guy, and a magic genie. However, this time around, Will Smith will be playing this humorous character of Genie. Apparently, Smith was "terrified" while playing the character but found a lane that pays homage to Robin Williams' performance in the original film. We are just anxious to see him in genie form with some CGI and touches of blue added in for the full effect!

5TOY STORY 4

On Friday, June 21, Toy Story will continue its tale of lovable toys! Fans were not sure if another movie would be made after the last one, since Andy gave his toys away. It was a sad moment, but we are glad that someone else is getting to interact with these loveable characters! Now, Woody, Buzz, the old gang, and some new friends will be going on new adventures in their new owner’s room. There will even be a fork who insists he is not a toy... so that should be interesting.

4THE LION KING

On Friday, July 19, another classic tale will be reimagined from director Jon Favreau. The New York-based director who gave us the live-action version of The Jungle Book in 2016 will also be gifting us The Lion King this summer. This is one of Disney’s most celebrated films, and the updated version looks quite promising. The trailer is almost identical to the original animated version, and there is a star-studded cast to match: Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and James Earl Jones are all starring in this beloved film. In short, do not try to bug us on July 19. We will be busy!

3ARTEMIS FOWL

On Friday, August 9, Artemis Fowl will come out in theaters. The movie is based on novels by Eoin Colfer, which follow a 12-year-old genius named Artemis Fowl. His family members are criminal masterminds, and he holds a fairy ransom in order to restore his family's fortune before later partnering up with fairies to rescue his father. Throughout the series, he helps the fairies, and in the movie, they may have something to do with the disappearance of his father. Fans of this book series should be anxious to see it all play out on the big screen. Even those who have not read these books should get ready for an exciting story!

2FROZEN 2

On Friday, November 22, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad will return as Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. There is not much known about this sequel, but no one seems to care; the first film was beyond successful, so people are pumped about the continuation of it all. We do know there will be an adventure that takes place far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. We hearthat Evan Rachel Wood of Westworld and Sterling K. Brown from This Is Uswill be in the movie. Plus, there will apparently be four new songs, and after the hit that "Let It Go" was, that is super exciting!

1STAR WARS: EPISODE IX

On Friday, December 20, as the year wraps up, the last Disney movie will be released for 2019. It is, of course, the next Star Wars: Episode IX; the third and final installment of the sequel trilogy, and the ninth and final installment of the main film franchise following The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. And even though Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016, she is reportedly going to return as General Leia through previously unused footage. Set one year after The Last Jedi, it will be neat to see how all of this concludes and what becomes of old characters we love (like Luke) and new characters we fell in love with (like Rey).
